Today’s card for discussion is the Ten of Swords. Normally I would just give the meaning and interpretation, but today I am going to look at this card in a different way. Over the weekend I did a deep meditation with a gifted friend. For the past month or so I had been experiencing some really bad pain in my upper back behind my shoulder blade. I couldn’t figure out what I had done or why nothing seemed to be helping, and it was pretty excruciating. My friend helped me focus and really go deep to analyze the pain and see if I could receive guidance or advice about what to do for it. I jokingly tell people that I “think in Tarot,” but I really do, and during this meditation the image of the Ten of Swords came to me. I suddenly realized that about a month ago when the pain had started, someone that I really loved and trusted had badly betrayed me and had done something that I felt “stabbed me in the back.” Well, oh my gosh, duh! It was so incredibly simple and obvious that I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t immediately made the connection. Once I did, I concentrated on what I needed to do EMOTIONALLY rather than physically in order to release the pain. It seemed that as soon as the link had been brought to the forefront of my mind, the pain almost immediately disappeared and I haven’t had it since. My point here is that the cards are such valuable tools for us in so many ways. While they are deeply symbolic and have many meanings that can be elusive and representational, they can also be very literal and blunt. They show us the things that we just can’t see on our own, even if it is right in front of our face. There have always been several cards that I feel have a health care related message attached to them, but now I believe that I will be able to derive further implications from all of the cards in the deck. This experience has been most helpful for me. I am really looking forward to using my new understanding to help my clients by relaying even more significant and specific messages from the deck. Blessings!
