Just in case anyone was considering coming out for the Mystical Fair in Lexington today, I want to make sure that you know that it has been rescheduled due to weather and road conditions. Please let me know if you would like to schedule an appointment in the meantime and my sincere apologies for any inconvenience. Thank you and stay safe out there!
squareup.com/outreach/campaigns/EDzeUOaXwWY5HiHx/landing?source=facebook I used my Tarot Mucha deck to ask how we wrapped up 2017 and what we learned over the past year. The card that I drew was the Queen of Pentacles. In meditating on this card, I took it to mean that 2017 was a year of developing strengths and power in order to build stability, especially for women. Since the Pentacles have to do with finances, job, career and things of that nature, this was most influential in the workplace. Women were forced to find their voice and speak up about things that eroded their self-worth or detracted from their own sense of stability and safety in the world. Men had to draw on their more feminine qualities of sympathy, compassion, understanding and empathy for others. Some were challenged to face their own imbalances and asked to speak their truth to better support others who are different than themselves. Both men and women saw their counter-parts more clearly as the veil that covered our differences was lifted. We were all forced to face aspects of ourselves and our society that we may have found less than flattering. The Queen of Pentacles is a strong and self-assured woman. She knows her value and brings strength to those around her. She is not afraid to honor her body and to show her caring and nurturing nature, but is not one to be trifled with. 2017 was a year of learning to balance the male and female energies of ourselves and the world around us, and while the energy of this card is still in play at the close of 2017, she helped us overcome our fears of speaking up for our beliefs and for one another. Hopefully, a more fair, balanced and stable culture will develop from these lessons in the upcoming year. I will be doing a New Year’s spread soon and I am hoping for lots of good news! In the meantime, many blessings to you on this New Year’s Eve.
I noticed a theme while I was out walking today. The Universe is always trying to talk to us...but are we listening?
I lost this sweet animal friend the day before Thanksgiving. She meant the world to me and today I just want honor her with this lovely poem that I found. I have had to draw on the energy of The Strength card to help me cope with the daily reminders of her absence. We were a good balance.
To Learn From Animal Being Nearer to the earth's heart, Deeper within it's silence: Animals know this world In a way we never will. We who are ever Distanced and distracted By the parade of bright Windows thought opens: Their seamless presence Is not fractured thus. Stranded between time Gone and time emerging, We manage seldom To be who we are: Whereas they are always Looking out from The here and now. May we learn to return And rest in the beauty Of animal being, Learn to lean low, Leave our locked minds, And with freed senses Feel the earth Breathing with us. May we enter Into lightness of spirit, And slip frequently into The feel of the wild. Let the clear silence Of our animal being Cleanse our hearts Of corrosive words. May we learn to walk Upon the earth With all their confidence And clear-eyed stillness So that our minds Might be baptized In the name of the wind And the light and the rain. ~John O'Donohue Rest in peace, my sweet Jazzy. I miss you. Today, my wonderful son turns 21, so I thought that I would discuss a few cards in honor of him. I chose The Sun and The World. These two cards are both very positive signs if they come up in your spread. The Sun can actually represent a literal “son” so it certainly seemed like an appropriate card for him. More generally it is an indicator of joy and happiness. A period of freedom and self-expression may be entering your life and things are definitely looking up. The white horse is symbolic of Spirit and encourages you to move forward on your path. The World card has a number of meanings and interpretations, but I chose it for my son because I think “the world” of him. The four figures in the corners, to me, represent someone being watched over, surrounded and protected by their guardian angels, ancestors, animal totems and other protective deities. The garland also encloses the person in the image with a circle and it is safe for them to be their true, pure self. This card indicates that a time period in your life is wrapping up and coming to a close and a new adventure could be getting ready to unfold. You hold the power to make that experience whatever you envision it to be. Today I would ask the protective Powers that be to watch over my son and keep him safe for me. Like the Goddess Sekhmet who closely guards her cubs, may his Guardian Angels always be by his side and keep him on the path that is for his Highest Good. Sweet son of mine, may The Sun always shine on you and may The World bring you nothing but happiness and joy. Bless you and all who read this.

festival.louisvillehalloween.com/ I bought this fabulous scarf from Chip Coffey when I was reading at the Scarefest Convention in Lexington this month. He is a wonderful medium and he wears them all the time. I liked it so much that I decided I would use it on my table during my readings today. Just out of curiosity I turned the top card when I laid my deck down and it revealed the King of Pentacles. I love it because in my view Chip Coffey is a King at what he does and the Pentacles have to do with career, finances and stability so maybe he will bring me even more blessings. Here is a link to his web site if you haven't heard of him. He's great!

A poem that I read this morning really touched me and I just felt the need to share it.
"As twilight makes a rainbow robe From the concealed colors of day In order for time to stay alive Within the dark weight of night, May we lose no one we love From the shelter of our hearts. When we love another heart And allow it to love us, We journey deep below time Into that eternal weave Where nothing unravels. May we have the grace to see Despite the hurt of rupture, The searing of anger, And the empty disappointment, That whoever we have loved, Such love can never quench. Though a door may have closed, Closed between us, May we be able to view Our lost friends with eyes Wise with calming grace; Forgive them the damage We were left to inherit; Free ourselves from the chains Of forlorn resentment; Bring warmth again to Where the heart has frozen In order that beyond the walls Of our cherished hurt And chosen distance We may be able to Celebrate the gifts they brought, Learn and grow from the pain, And prosper into difference, Wishing them the peace Where spirit can summon Beauty from wounded space." ~John O'Donohue One of the things that I love to do most is take long walks through the woods. Lately I keep coming across one of my favorite animals, the deer. This picture is of my most recent encounter with a lovely doe and her three fawns. I believe that when you keep having repeating experiences, the Universe is trying to tell you something, so I thought I would research and share more about the symbology of the deer. For me personally, they represent a gentleness of spirit. If you are given the gift of the opportunity to lock eyes, there is an innocence and peacefulness there that can bring an immediate sense of calm. I love the way that they carry themselves and their natural elegance and poise. They are the epitome of grace, love and beauty. Mother deer stay with their fawns and nurse them often, imparting a message which relates to nurturing ourselves and others. Deer have very acute senses and will know that you are coming long before you get there. As soon as they hear you, they can freeze and become so silent that they almost seem to blend away into the background before your very eyes. Maybe this is one of the reasons why they are sometimes associated with the magical realm of fairies. In fact, the deer is mentioned in the mythology of many cultures and linked with a variety of divine beings such as the Greek Goddess Artemis and the Celtic God Cernunnos. In folklore, the white stag is particularly significant as the heralder of new quests and adventures. When any animal repeatedly shows up for you, I think it is helpful to study them and their behaviors and attempt to interpret the messages that they might be trying to share. I see it as an opportunity to learn and apply these things to my own life. Currently, I feel that the deer is encouraging me to be more gentle and kind to myself, as well as others. Some new adventures might be coming my way and it could be a good time to observe and be more still so that I don't miss them. I may also benefit from spending more time with my family and listening more, while speaking less. While this is what the deer means to me at this time in my life, each person’s experience and interaction with animals is varied and personal. What does the deer mean to you?
