Cards for Discussion

This was one of those days when I intended to draw and discuss just one card, but felt compelled to draw three.  There must still be some Valentine’s Day energy in the air, because I feel like this spread is just all about love.  When put together, the message that I get tells a story.  The Hierophant speaks of a relationship that was a blessing for those involved.  There is a teacher/student vibe to this card, so one person may have been more of a mentoring or “father” figure, while the other had more lessons to learn and may have been more naïve or inexperienced.  The suit of Cups is all about love, emotions and feelings, and the King of Cups in this spread repeats the “father figure” or “teacher” message for me.  There is a loving person with strong or more dominant energy in the relationship who tends to have mastery and control over their feelings.  This card is also front and center which tells me that this person is basically the one “running the show.”  That being followed by The Lovers card is significant, because The Lovers has a strong message related to balance.  The partner in the “student” role may need to make sure that their feelings are also being heard and not discounted.  It could be time to be more assertive and ask that your own needs be met as well.  While The Lovers card is not always about a relationship that is sexual in nature, when I read this card this is often the vibe that I get.  When a relationship is based in friendship, the Two of Cups usually shows up instead.  Of course all readers are different, but in this spread I definitely get a romantic feel to the relationship with this card at the end.  The overall reading indicates a relationship that is loving, but may be somewhat out of balance.  It’s important that both parties give and receive love and attention in equal amounts, although not necessarily in the same way.  One may show affection differently than the other, but in the hearts of both involved it should “balance out.”  If it doesn’t, then The Hierophant indicates that it would be a blessing if it were over.  The time may come when the student surpasses the teacher.  I hope this reading reaches and helps those who need to receive it and wish you blessings!  Ember
